The fable is a recurring element in the culture of each country and often represents the voice and experiences of ordinary people. The tales tell of human experiences with the aim of making the listener able to learn from them. For this reason F_ABLE wants to be a school ABLE TO teach. The proposal expresses the will to respond to the economic challenge, through an implementation, design and programming process, governed by the concept of genius-loci, intervening with actions and operational choices typical of vernacular architecture. The project area was divided into five building areas developed around a natural area used as allotment and garden, left in the center of the area and suitable for hosting the present moracea. Each building areas is composed of separate modules in order to guarantee an implementation in stages. The seven classrooms are located in the two side wings, while the central block is a multifunctional space used as a library and canteen, air-conditioned by a rainwater collection tank into which canals distributed along the paths converge. The project is punctuated by the repetition of the cross vault setting up the spaces with a rhythmic and modular pattern, essential for reducing construction costs. Although each volume consists of the addition of two cross vaults and contains a couple of functions, the entire school is designed for the most total dynamism of the interior spaces; opposing aesthetic stiffness, it manages to change dynamically according to its needs and the number of students for each school year. The choice of stabilized brick as a building material allows both the reduction of material costs and that of the elements used for construction, such as ribs or wooden formwork, reused and moved when necessary, offer the opportunity to expand the village, build houses and expand the same school, implementing that social process, aimed at young people, called participatory architecture. The bricks, repeated in the walls, floors and roofs, find their greatest aesthetic and functional expression in the construction of the external wall faces which, designed according to an alternation of solids and voids, allow the light to become tangible material. The brick screens the external facades, blocks solar radiation and promotes natural internal ventilation. This permeability allows the wind to flow into the interior ambients, about 4.5 meters high, so as to bring the hot air upwards and the cold one down.
